Advantages: Its a bit of a beast!

Disadvantages: rattly, noisy, and possibly build quality issues.

The MG ZR is a heavily reworked version of the Rover 25. , and is clearly targeting the young population- although they wont have much hope if they're going up against the Golf R32 for example. Cars come with 17 inch alloys, aggressive looking grilles, brake discs all round, sports body kit and a choice of lurid colors. This is the bit i hate- my old school teacher has one of these in a disgusting bright yellow, in a sickening attempt to look trendy.

Lately, my uncle succumbed to the ZR, and so ive had a few rides in one. Under the skin the new cars suspension and chassis have been significantly modified and it now offers a very engaging driving experience, steering is direct and provides good feedback for a front wheel drive car, body roll is well under control and there is plenty of grip through the 17 inch tyres. Surprisingly the ZR still manages to deliver a reasonable ride over uneven surfaces.

0-60mph in 7.4 seconds and a top speed of 131mph

An interesting feature is that MG have REDUCED the sound proofing on the ZR so as to provide a more interesting ride! This does make the engine that bit louder. (pointlessly. i don't appreciate this feature)

Size;
The car can accommodate four adults- could do five, but uncomfortably. The boot is of a reasonable size and can be extended by folding the rear seats.

Price; Expensive for what it is- going for over £15,000 brand new. Apparently it rattles a bit when doing over 60mph, but this may be an individual situation. Also, lots of people have had problems with shutting the doors and boot. Could be some manufacturing issues here.

Summary: A good quick ride- but not practical for long journeys.
