MAN, How I Love my MINI!!!

OK, so I'm a bit obsessed, but owning a Mini isn't just about owning a car to get you from A to B and back again.
Owning a Mini is a way of life for most Mini owners.

My love affair began some 5 years ago with my first Mini.
His name was Major 'Alfie' Holdups, a 998cc Mini city, custom painted in airforce metal flake blue who had to be sold :0(
I had a shed load of problems with him due to a stoopid mechanic doing some really dodgy work to the engine .... you live and learn!

I've had my current Mini since September last year. He's called Yoffy and is a 1275 Sprite in White.
I can't tell you about just how much fun driving a Mini is. I have a constant grin on my face as I spin around the Oxfordshire country side.
Owning a Mini is never plain sailing, there is always something needing to be done to it, but that's half the fun of owning one to be honest.
How many peoplle can honestly say that they know their car inside out??

Mini's have a character all of their own.
Driving any other car after owning a Mini feels like you're accepting second best (does to me!) and, OK - if you are going to go inter continental in your Mini you're going to have to carry a few spares (just in case) but, if I were being totaly honest I would have no qualms about taking the Yoffmiester anywhere!!

Another really great aspect to owning a Mini is that you are never short of company :0)
I have other Mini drivers peeping their horns and waving to me.
A few weeks ago, I was stopped on the side of the road, checking my directions and 4 Mini's slowed down to check I was OK - it's the same sort of camaradery you get if you ride a motorbike.
There are loads of websites dedicated to the ownership of this little car.
my favourite is http://www.mini-online.co.uk/ where they have an on line forum where you can chat, as technical question
s, check out what events are on and where.

If you've never had a spin in a Mini I suggest that you go and find someone who owns one and beg them to take you ouot in it because you will come back with a grin as wide as the front of the car.

These a great little, fun cars. Economical and cheep to insure, great as a project for all levels of experience or just to get in and drive.

Hey! Thanks for the comments!
Nope - not doing L2B this year :0(
As for minis being slow ... PAH!
Yoffy is a 1275 and goes like a rocket (as long as there is nobody in the passenger seat, get a bit slower with the extra weight!)
Yeah - it is a bit scary when big stuff goes round you, but you do get used to it and now if feels weird if I drive a big car ! :0)

Mini's do have their problems, the brakes aren't as good as they could be, they are prone to rot on the subframe, and the heater is a pile fo pooh, but they are such fun to drive and look great, I wouldn't trade my Clubman Estate in for anything.
