Having done a review for the original mini i felt it was time i did one for the new MINI.

When these new cars came out i was the proud owner of a Rover mini and thus got caught up in the wave of general hatred for this new imposter in our ranks, however sense prevailed and now i have come round to them as a successor to the old design, to the extent that i am currrently saving up for one!

There are people who say that the new car is nothing like a mini-too big, bulky and dare i say it ...reliable??!! However i read a quote in a book that in my mind explains it a bit, it said that while cars like the volkswagon golf have evolved over many years, bringing out a new design every year or so , the old mini has been pretty much the same for 50 years therefore the makers of the new MINI have had to imagine what the mini , going through the same process would have evolved into. Personally i think they have done a good job.

I had the opportunity to drive one a while ago and found it a pleasure to drive, smooth with great handling while also keeping some of the fun element of driving a old mini.

They are not cheap cars but do seem to be coming down a bit recently,how much of this is due to the 'credit crunch' will be interesting to see however they do keep their value more than most other cars. On the MINI website you can construct your own virtual mini,mie started as a base price of around £12,000,after i had added my auto gear box (an option at over a grand) and all the knobs whistles and bells it came to over £21,000! Think i will have to modify my wants list a bit.

I'm not going to venture into the whole British/ German debate as i think that has been covered in other reviews and to be honest i just like the car-i don't care where it comes from!
