Advantages: Fun, and fashionable.
Disadvantages: Small back seat and boot space.
I prefer the look of the new mini to the old mini by far, I may be one of the few who has embraced BMW bringing the Mini upto date.
I looked into buying a new one but it ends up very expensive. The base price they quote is reasonable, but you must be aware this is for the most basic mini of the type you are looking at and any more extras end up very very expensive. It is not uncommon to add one over 10,000 of extras. This put me off a lot as the car would lose a lot of value over only a few years and in this current climate it did not seem like a sensible financial desicion.
I began to consider second hand minis, and like with most cars one that was a couple of years old was half the price. I budgetted for 10,000 and started looking around. I found that at mimi garages you could not get much for that money, and more annoyingly you had no bargaining power. The way I saw it was that they were verycareful who they sold their cars too, they would rather not sell them at all than give you £100 off.
I began looking on autotrader and luckily loved the first one I saw and got a good deal on it. The car is great fun to drive. It is not easy and is hard drive with hard supsension. The handling is top class and is likened to driving on train tracks.
I love the interier. All the dials are funky and ver modern. The surfaces are easy to clean. The back seat area of the car is actually quite small, but very comfy if you are willing to have no leg room. There are only two seats in the back and it would be near on impossible to putin a car seat. Boot space is almost zero. None of these down sides bother me, so that makes the mini my perfect car!
Summary: Great, except for families.
