A Classic With Economic and Nippy As A Middle Name; challenging with a new baby
Member Name: MrsFToBe
Advantages: Economic, cheap to run, lots of additional extras and a classic!
Disadvantages: Small boots
When deciding on what my new car should be, everyone I spoke to advised that a Mini would never be the same as the original Mini (as seen in Italian Job); they couldn't be more wrong!
After throughly researching and trawling copious amounts of show rooms and forecourts, I found it, my little Mini Cooper D with all the added extras anyone (even the biggest of boy racers) would be proud of, Sat Nav, Parking Sensors, Ipod Connection and Bluetooth, not to mention automatic lights and rain sensor windscreen wipers! As an 07 plate, I was a little on the edge given the age and how cars of such statue were built, however to date (nearly 3 years ago) this little car full to the brim with extras has been the best purchase! I am most certainly one the most proud Mini owners I know.
The Mini is a classic shape, powerful yet economic with a tank of diesel costing just over £40 and lasting a drive of approx. 650 miles, not bad for something so small and a classic. With the aid of rear parking sensors, this car can fit into the tightest of spots imaginable. Its comfortable, swish and extremely stylish.
Road tax is a dream and at £30 pounds a month can not be turned down. The Mini (as standard) comes with a TLC care pack (depending on the age) which comes in very useful when the car needs an annual or check up (please note things such as tyres are not covered within this package), Mini also offer at a cost for this in essence warranty to be extended for a further 3 years at a cost of £275, well worth it in my estimation. At every service my Mini has been updated with the latest software allowing Sat Nav to be at its best.
Don't get me wrong, this car does have a downside. Whilst the interior is spacious, luxurious and full of additional extras and the ability to advise the driver when washer fluid is low or an MOT is due,the compromise is the boot space. I have recently become a mother and with a baby in tow the boot is taken up entirely by the pram. Hello remainder of the car for the week's grocery shopping! Another point, for those reading this with children, please be reminded this car is a hatchback! Whilst the look of the car is up there as the top notch, the practicalities of getting a car seat in and out everyday can sometimes require military and logistical precision, it is do-able.
Overall this car is by all means the BEST I have ever driven and I love it dearly; with the prospect of having more children, I may have to part with my second love in life for something more sensible, spacious but most definitely just as nippy and economic......perhaps the Mini Countryman?!
Summary: Great small car for those nipping from A to B or for those that want style!
