Advantages: Performance, presence, looks and history
Disadvantages: Stiff suspension, likes a drink!
Before I start my review can I just add that I am the owner of a later generation of Lancer Evolution, namely an Evolution IX.
The Evo VI is quite possibly the most famous of Mitsubishi's road going rally weapons, made immortal by the legendary Tommi Makinen who in Lancer Evo's won 4 consecitive World Rallying titles.
The Evo VI is an awesome car officially producing 270+bhp they can be tuned to figures well in excess of this if you want to go down the tuning route.
Any Evo is an amazing car to drive, the acceleration is mind blowing and if speed is your thing there is very little in real world driving that would be able to live with it on normal roads.
They are not the most comfortable car as they are very stiffly sprung but its dynamic ability will leave you so amazed you'll live with being bounced about a bit.
Faults? Well they require servicing every 4500 miles and fuel consumption is depressing, you can expect to average about 20mpg if you are lucky. Unfortunately they are also one of the most stolen cars going and as such expect insurance to be very pricey.
Having said that this is a truly fabulous car that makes an ideal weekend toy if you are looking for such a car.
They are not really a daily driver but as an all round exciting package I know of nothing that comes close.
