Advantages: Cheap.

Disadvantages: Not good at high speeds (above 60mph)

When reading reviews on cars I often find that they give too much technical detail for me and not enough basic information for people who don't know much about cars! I have now owned two Nissan Micras each individual in their own way.

My first was a 1998 which drove smoothly with very few problems for the period for the period of time that I owned it before I had a small accident (as the older Nissan Micras are usually quite cheap they often become an instant write off by insurance companies).

My second Micra is a 2002 car, so it is one of the newest of the old style Micras. The car has served me well with only one problem appearing more regularly than the rest and that is the suspension that I have had done three times in the last three years. The Micras also tend to need oil changes more regularly than other cars.

The driving style in a micra is reasonably good, it does tend to lean a bit on sharp corners and it isn't very aerodynamic (driving down the A303 on a windy day can be interesting!). The only other thing worth mentioning is that the car can struggle at high speeds (above 60 mph) if you only a a one litre engine. It is hard to get up much speed and can feel a little bit like the car is taking off when you do get some speed up.

While I have enjoyed my Micras I'm not sure that I will buy a Micra again next time.

Summary: A good car for a learner/new driver
