Nissan Note

My first acquaintance with the Nissan Note was on a rental car hire parking lot a few months ago, it was to be my transport for a few days. If we all purchased a car for looks alone I doubt if anyone would even consider this car. I know looks are a subjective matter but no matter which angle I looked at this vehicle is was just.............well, odd. With its long wheelbase & box shape & those striking 'bug eye' headlamps it was never going to win a beauty contest. The Nissan Note has recently been upgraded to the new 08/09 model, with new names for the level of trim. These are the basic model Visia (£9900), the mid range Acentra (£1100) and the top of the range Tekna (£1200) [These are rough list prices as a guide but are not accurate]. I have a Note SVE, I like it a lot but with a few resevations worth sharing. it suffers from screeching drive belt ,a lot of people complain about this on the 1.6 engine. with help from Auto express mag I got mine fixed under warranty,however the problem has returned and warranty is expired.Rear wheel bearing failed at 40k miles nissan dealer wanted £140.00 to fit a part that costs about£24.00, local garage did it £50.00 inclusive. Tyres for 16 inch alloys cost in excess of £100 .00 and only last me just over a year , tyre rated at V (145mph) on a car that would top 107 according to sales blurb. I have driven my friend's 09 Nissan Note numerous times, and I must say I am thoroughly impressed. It certainly isn't exciting and may not look great (well I suppose that is a matter of personal preference) but to your average person that does not matter anyway. The car is very smooth and quiet on the road, as you would expect from most modern cars and is a generally pleasant and relaxing drive. had this car for a day and loved it. Its clean stylish interior meant i fealt relaxed the whole day, the small quiet engine meant i diddnt have to raise my voice to talk to my passengers and there is plenty of space in the boot. The car gets great MPG and you will never have to spend too much on fuel. There are however a few reservations, the build quality in some places is...cheap, and it seems to rattle a bit when going over 50mph or turning around.
