Just a little background information: back in 1999 when my family got this car, it was sold to us by people that used to own a little sail boat. The car was kept in great condition, but there was just one problem. They used to tow the boat around and so now the gear shifting between third to fourth gear is a matter of how lucky the car is feeling today. Does the alternator just keep spinning or hook on? Now on to the review part.
This is a wonderful little car that I have nicknamed Zipper. I feel this is an appropriate name for this car because of how small it is and how it just zips around town when you need it to. Since getting the car, my family has put about 150,000 miles (241,000 km) onto it for a grand-total of 240,000 miles (386,000km). Over the course of our journey, we have only experienced a few problems.
One of the problems we have experienced was with the A/C motor burning out. It was strange when it happened because my brother and I both thought that it was the radio that was making that electrical smell (ozone, right?) so we shut off the radio, but it was really the AC motor frying. Another problem was of course, the transmission. It is funny how if the day is a cool day, then Zipper is more likely to shift to 4th gear than if it is a hot day. Despite the fact that it is probably relatively cheap to replace, we haven't done so, yet.
I love the reliability of this car and how I know that, if I give it enough time, it will take me from point A to point B every time. The fuel economy on this car is surprisingly good as well, but it should be with such a small car as this.
What more can I say about it? Well, it is on the smaller end of vehicles. When I am driving, I am the most comfortable with my seat pretty far back because my legs are relatively long, but when I do this the passenger seat behind me only has a small amount of room. Probably only about 8 cm, though I have not measured.
To end this I will tell you that one day I will have to give it up because of being so long outdated. When that happens I will know exactly what type of car I want, size and shape wise, because of this car.
