Advantages: Good all round motor

Hubbies car is 1986 D reg Nissan Sunny. At the moment it has 165000 miles on the clock. Yep that right 165000 and it is still going. I have a friend who’s mechanic thinks that he can get her G reg Ford Fiesta through the MOT this time but thinks she should think about getting another car. I asked her how many miles it had done 113000. I had to bite my tongue. She knows nothing about cars and believes what every one else tells he. The words of her mechanic was her car is getting a bit tired. Hubbies car should be 6 ft under by now if that is the case.

It is a 1.6slx saloon in other words it has a boot on it. It is grey in colour except for the rust patches that are starting to show through(I have told him he better start saving for a new car) I will tell you more about them later.

From what we can find out it was on of the new Nissan sunny as in late 1996/early 1997 it all changed. As I have seen Datsun Sunny (yep that rights a Datsun) which is D reg. So it must have changed to Nissan Sunny.

When he bought the car it about 100000 miles on the clock. And he paid £1200 for it about 4 and bit years ago. ( Yes I know they must have seen him coming that could turn in to a very rude joke)But he had no car left as the other one had given up the ghost. And he needed transport to get around.

The car is very comfy inside. The seats are not bad for a mid range car. And they have held up well to kids being sick (not mine or our kids but his kids) Wet dirt from plant pots when we moved and my fat arse sat on them as well. So it can’t be too bad it if can stand up to my arse on them.

Hubbies car is the main car of the house hold. I have a little seat Ibiza 1.2 with fairly comfy seats but not on long journeys (please see my op). So hubbies car is always the car we take when we go on holiday, visiting my mums 60 mile round trip, shopping etc.

We have not had any major problems apart from a problem
with the steering rack. Had to call AA out for that. He had just spent £70 to get it through the MOT. Due to a roll bar type thing on the steering rack and a rubber gator. Which was main dealer only and some welding. Which could have been down for free at my mums if the MOT had not already run out. (I told him but no. I asked him when is your MOT in June some time. Looks oh it runs on Sunday and he was booked in on the Monday and it failed. So they can fit the welding in on the Friday. Guess who was without a car. So that he could get to work. Yep that right me. I have already slapped him and will slap him again on the backs of knees after writing this review as it has stirred it all up again.)

Obviously after doing 165000 miles it is starting to show its age. The drivers seat fabric has ripped. Not me, not me even though I have a fat arse. As I rarely drive it. And the body work is going a little bit rusty. But it has served us well. And still goes. The only thing that we where puzzled about was when we went to replace the brakes pads the ones for a 1.6slx don’t fit. It has to be the 1.4slx ones. I think that it must have been a Friday afternoon car. Ran out of 1.6slx brakes. Never just bung on the 1.4 ones no one will ever know. Well guess who keeps forgetting. Yep hubby does. I tell him to write it in his Haynes manual (god send) does he. No. But now he has stapled the end of the box with all the details on in to haynes manual.

Hubby thinks he might like to get another one as this one has done really well. But we will see what the piggy bank yields when he does need to buy a new car.
