... like its going to stall. If i go slow enough it will cut out. The lighter/horn fuse also blows repeatedly even though i rarely use the lighter or the horn! Im not sure if this happens in alot of peugeots as the lighter fuse kept blowing in my old diesel 106 aswell. Im not sure whether other gti's have this same engine problem. Apart from that though, once its running its a nice little car, the leather interior looks nice and the seats are comfy, pedals are quite close together though and you really have to rev it t...more

Crowned Review Peugeot 106 GTi: 106 Rallye-Fun City! (5277 words)

Introduction I bought a black 106 Rallye in August 1995. This was the 1.3 injection - 1294cc producing 100bhp @7,200 rpm and 80lbft of torque @5,000 rpm. It was to be a second car for my wife, as I already had a Renault 19 16V saloon (Mark 2) as a company car. The Rallye replaced a Citroen AX GT 500 - a very nice car that I had modified to produce 85bhp at the wheels, so about 100bhp at the flywheel. Quite quick, and very agile. Once I got the Renault, though, I passed this on to my wife as it just couldn't compete with 137bhp (+ Superchip), which made the 16V really fly from 5,000rpm. I am lucky enough to have a father that owns his own car business which means i have access to a lot of different cars. In a fit of stupidity, I bought myself a 94 'L' Cherry Red 106 Xsi, to carry me around my busy student schedule. Don't get me wrong, the 1.4 engine was fun for... ooh... 5 minutes, I even managed to enjoy the Go-Kart like handling for a while. I don't wish to sound too harsh, the 106 Xsi is a fun car, if you're under 6 foot, which i am not. So, lack of head room can always be overcome if you open the sunroof. Be careful when it rains though, what am i saying? If it rains you will get wet anyway because of ...

If you have read my car ops you will know I love my cars. I dont tend to hold onto them for long and therefore have plenty ot write about. During the reign of my primera, I also owned a little Peugeot.... I bought myself a new 106 GTi about 18 months ago which I have now sold. I did this because I bought a 205 GTi when they were coming to an end of their lifecycle and loved every minute behind the whieel. I sold it due to garage space. My Primera, my 106 and my wifes car taking up too much space. One had to go and the 106 lost on technical merit and practicality. Good job really as we now have a Bemmer too! While the 106 is better is ...
