Advantages: Good product
Disadvantages: Aftersales service, Poor attitude, Bad repair service
My girlfriend and I have one of these nippy little cars, and as a product I struggle to find too many bad points. I hope that our experience is a one-off. We purchased the car 8 months ago and from the start we started to notice a problem with the time it took for the airbag warning light to extinguish. After a while it would flash on while we were driving. We returned the car under warranty (the dealer refused to collect the car, despite that service being part of 'The Peugeot Promise' and their 'Lion Care' boasts) and they repaired the fault telling us that it was a seatbelt trigger under the driver's seat. A week later the errant light was back, coming on and warning us of imminent airbag danger!! We returned the car again (no pick-up again, but they dropped it off) and were told that it was the same fault. Hmmmm. A week later the same problem. no offer of a pick up from Peugeot caused my girlfriend to have to take the morning off to drive the car to the dealer. On the way, she was involved in an accident, and of course, the airbag failed leaving her with whiplash, and unfortunately Peugeot and the dealer have claimed that they are not responsible. The final repair seems to have fixed the fault (4 months on) but my girl friend can no longer trust the car, and it is to be sold. It is a shame that this has tarnished my image of a company that I believed to be Marketing Oriented, but ultimately hid behind paperwork and legal threats to absolve themselves.

- 20/02/02 It is sickening that companies can get away with these things. It just isn't right. |

- 26/01/02 Thanks sidneygee, we've actually had a solicitor on the case, but due to some nifty paperwork by the Peugeot dealer, and some 'interesting' clauses in contracts, we can do no more! And sorry about the quality of the write huddro and squirrel, I'm new here! Try my Queensland op. |

- 26/01/02 OK, the criticism below may be valid, but I still found it very useful. Peugeot seem to have let you down - can I suggest that you try Trading Standards ? |
