I have seen car reviews in articles and magazines, but I have never read one that really tells me what I want to know. If, for example, you look at a Peugeot 206 review, they always go on and on about boring stuff like “1124 cc ”, manual (5 speed) gearbox and unleaded petrol. Yawn, yawn. As a non-driver, I’m not really interested in all that boring stuff. In my opinion, and as a passenger, the important questions to ask about a Peugeot 206 are: ~~~~~~~~~~ Is it big enough? ~~~~~~~~~~ This is an obvious question, as it looks such a dinky little car. It’s certainly big enough for the two of us (plus dog). The ... Read the complete review

This will be a short review as I have already written extensively about my experiences with a 1.4HDI LX model of the 206 here on dooyoo. Basically that 206 was a hire car, hired over a long weekend and driven some 400 miles on a variety of roads in the South of England. This 206 was given the same treatment, but unlike the diesel model left me feeling less than impressed. This is all due to the engine, as in all other respects (age, model specification etc) the car was all but identical (although a three-door in a different colour). So everything in that review, save for the engine and a couple of other findings noted below, applies here. The 1.1 engine ... Read the complete review

I have been driving a courtesy car for the last week, while my car has been in the bodyshop following an unfortunate prang up the backside (not my fault I hasten to add). I was somewhat disappointed to find that the garage in question thought that it would be a good idea to swap my 7-seater VW Touran for a 3 door Peugeot 206. Nonetheless, I would have had to wait several more days for them to source a bigger courtesy car, and I admit that I was seduced by the shiny gold metallic paint and sleek, sporty profile. It looked quite nippy so I agreed to take it. How wrong could I be? I would say that a “good” small car is one that pulls off the trick of feeling ... Read the complete review

After passing my test, I decided I need a car that would not only be cheap to insurance and buy, but would also be reliable and last for ages. Although the 206 I bought was relatively expensive, I would argue that it was one of the best cars that any first-time driver could have. It is small, so it is easy to drive around, and when reversing it is therefore easier - when you have just passed your test, you want a car that is not too big and bulky, and one that will make your driving experience easier. Sure, it is not exactly fast and acceleration is slow, but for a 1.1, it is not exactly a surprise. This car exceeded my expectations, and it was actually easier to drive ... Read the complete review
