Advantages: power steering, sporty look, added extras!

Disadvantages: dodgy radio reception, esp on AM

I have been the proud owner of one of these little babies for a week now! Over the past four years, have gradually upgraded my car -moving from a Cinquecento to a Fiat and then finally branching into the new car market last October with a 106 Independence.

I loved my 106 but was very tempted by the showroom displays of 206s. Finally I could not resist and took proud delivery of my 52 plate sapphire blue 206 last week.

So far I am thoroughly impressed. Obviously having only driven 330 miles in it so far (much of these little trips out to the corner shop to give me the excuse to drive it) it is too soon to say whether any design or other faults will become apparent (apart from dodgy radio reception). But so far it has been wonderful!

It is the little gadgets which are not much in themselves that add to the pleasure of owning this car. Things like the remote control for the stereo on the steering column, the digital display panel and the storage compartment under the passenger seat. As I said, not enough to make you buy an otherwise mediocre car but it adds to the overall experience! And this is not a mediocre car.

The power steering has been a little difficult to get used to with parking an interesting experience. however, one week down the line I am beginning to see why people say that once they have had power steering they could never drive without it.

The overall look of the car is fantastic. While it was certainly not cheap at nearly £9000 the sporty style design makes it, in my humble opinion at least, look more expensive than it is.

I have a feeling I will be holding on to this little baby for a while yet - although I do like the look of the 206 CCs!
