Loved the looks, the handling, the smooth engine, the fuel economy (35-40 mpg) and the comfort. A truly great car to drive as the motoring press have said and in GLX trim, well equipped. But my God was it unreliable. Got it with 36,000 miles on it, and got rid of it with 78,000. In that time, the following went wrong: Airbag wiring went faulty and caused the warning light to flash constantly. Stereo packed up twice Remote stalk for stereo packed up Air con packed up Engine siezed solid at 80 mph on the motorway. Dealer could not explain as it had oil and coolant levels within tolerances, and did not seem to be overheating. £2,000 bill! Idle speed control valve failed twice causing the engine to race or stall. Became snatchy and rough in traffic when the temperature gauge got beyond 90 degrees. Handbrake would only work for about 3,000 miles after a service. Carpets became detached from footwell Centre console worked loose Drivers seat creaked Top end rattle from engine when cold from 60,000 miles on (independent mechanic blamed Peugeot's belief-defying 20,000 mile oil change schedules) Panel lighting went out intermittently. Plipper receiver fried itself through water ingress. Would not recommend the car for its appalling reliability / build quality, but as a driving experience it was very hard to fault.
