Advantages: ACE, GOOD LOOKING

Disadvantages: INSURANCE,

My brother has just purchased a Peugeot 306 XSi, P reg for £6,000 pounds. And in my opinion it's well worth it. I have always like Peugeots but this one is better than the ordinary ones. It drives brilliantly like the sports car it is. You can go 100 mph on a stretch of a motorway, and think wow...this is good.

It had only 27,000 miles on the clock hence the price. It has all the comforts of a family car, 4 doors, safety locks, spacious room but all the needs of a 22 year old.

It has really good security, with alarm and key pad immobiliser. So it won't get nicked, some really good alloys and also comes with a fitted cd player. You can control the volume of the cd player or radio from the steering wheel, like the ones on formula one cars. Which gives it that extra sporty feel.

It comes with all the standard things like Power steering, electric window, electric sunroof, and ours was full service history, which is good.

The only problem is that the insurance is very high, and as a result i could not get myself insured on it. Which is a great shame. I think it is in Group 12, and my brother being 22 it cost him over £1400 which is quite a lot.
I, think the interior could have been better, leather would have been preferable. As our interior attracts dust to it, and even hoovering doesn't always remove all the dirt.

But, for drivability it is brilliant. Handles well, and most important of all looks good, especially after a good polish. My brother loves it, and I would if it was mine.
Available in metallic blue, cherry red or silver. So, you can choose.

It's a 2.0 liter engine, which means it consumes a fair bit of petrol, so if you are using your car a lot, it is not very economical. It does cost a bit to keep it, and therefore I think it is more suited to a person 25+ rather than 22.

But, if you want a safe, reliable, good looking car, then this is the one.

I have to say that is very good for the price and don't understand why you say "it's done 27,000 miles hence the price". £6000 is extremely cheap for a P reg XSi, especially considering the mileage. At that price I would have thought it would have had higher than 'average' mileage but in fact it has less than average being 3-4 years old so averaging 8-9,000 a year.

Your fascination and wonderment at the radio/cassette/CD player steering wheel control stick is, er well, I don't actually know how to describe it. Did you not know that all 306's and 406's (not sure about any other models but know 205's don't) have them? It is not just synonymous with the 'sporty' one.

It is great to see someone so enthusiastic for I car which I also love, but like your brother am also 22 (but almost 23 - not that this makes any difference with the insurance companies!) and find the cost of insuring one a bit hard to swallow! I have seen a gorgeous Blaze Yellow (gold) example which I would just love to own - but my insurance company wouldn't. I'm not even a boy racer - I'm a woman!

I guess I'll have to keep looking for different 306 instead.
