Our 307SW was one of the best we ever owned in terms of comfort. However, it was THE worst we ever owned in terms of reliability. Firstly, the Panoramic Glass Roof was brilliant, something that is sorely missed in the current family car. The sunshade was handy if the sun got too bright, but the car would bake like an oven if you left it open on a sunny day. The seats were very comfortable, offering plenty of support, but the fabric could've been better - easily snagged by various things. Slightly soft-touch plastics made the upper dashboard pleasant to the touch, but the lower dashboard features hard, scratchy, unappealing plastics, whilst the leather steering wheel wore badly, possibly due to the sun. It was very practical, but the seats were slightly fiddly to remove, and heavy once you'd managed to get them out! Reliability problems began a year into ownership (and it was only 12 months old when we bought it), with the clutch that failed. Then there were plenty electrical problems to follow, coupled with numerous trips to Mr Peugeot. The receptionists there were always quite helpful, the technicians not so much, but customer care was never as bad as it was made out in the motoring press. The diesel engine wasn't particularly economical or punchy, but it was quiet on-board and the ride quality was good. Handling was poor however, with a spoon-in-porridge-like gearbox, lifeless steering and plentiful body roll. In the end, it was time to say goodbye, and the family wagon was replaced by something slightly sportier and better quality!
