Advantages: If you enjoy cheap tack this is the car for you.

Disadvantages: The car is a heap of French junk. I will never buy one again.

Hello. I have been reading with interest all of the reviews which have been posted on here about the Peugeot 307 over several years.  I have just sold my 2007 307 SW SE 1.6Hdi model which was complete with sat nav, Bluetooth telephone and every other feature which you could specify when new. I bought mine in October 2010 from my employer who had used the car from brand new under a contract hire system. At the time I was pleased with my purchase - impressed with all of the toys and thought the diesel mpg was fantastic... But then it all went wrong.

I soon learnt that Peugeot build quality was really very shabby, unreliable and cheap. Light bulbs blew at least once every month, the entire electrical system failed in January and it had to be repaired at Peugeot and they had the car in for 3 days. The parking sensors failed earlier this year - again another expensive repair. Then the fuel cap sensor failed telling me that the tank was unlocked. This led to a fuel injection fault which Peugeot just replaced the whole cap etc at great expense. On top of this, when ever I drive at 50+ mph there is a dreadful squeak from the left hand wheels. The suspension sounds absolutely dreadful as if you are driving on rocks all of the time - a sort of knocking noise is always present. Also the ride is very hard and rigid . The sound system is the worst I have ever heard - really tinny. Oh - how could I forget that at 33k miles I had a new clutch!!

Also one day in the wind I opened my driver door and the wind pushed it open. Unfortunately the cheap door catch snapped and the door fell off denting and damaging the entire door and front wing. Another expensive repair.

All of these problems from a 3 1/2 year old car which has full Peugeot service history from new. My first car (an R reg Ford Fiesta) which I acquired with 40k miles on the clock was much better, smoother and far cheaper to run and reliable than this French heap of junk as proved by my putting another 40k miles on it in 2 years!!

Seriously, my advice would be to avoid these cars at all costs. Although they look nice and appear to represent good value for money the repair bills are extortionate. What a good job the seats are comfortable...for when you have to wait for the repair lorry to tow you away! Haha. On previous occasions when I have complained to my local Peugeot garage about the noise whilst driving they simply tell me that the squeaks and bangs from the suspension is normal.

Well I have now purchased a Jaguar following the sale of a business and pleased to be enjoying driving once again. Thank goodness for the sale of bad rubbish. I just feel sorry for the poor chap who buys it from Peugeot next.

Happy motoring.
