607! Its a gem! (Peugeot 607)

Lets say straight away that I am an owner and have been so for 11 reasonably happy months. It is my 4th onsequtive Peugeot and by far the best. All 3 previously were 406's.

I am not going to bore you senseless with data that people get by cutting and pasting from the Peugeot site! You can go there and get it yourself.

My model is the glx hdi. Velour seats.

I have never had sat nav or cruise control before.Cruise control operates from 30mph upwards and I consider it essential to help keep points of the licence because contrary to belief point do not make prizes!

The Sat nav is the basic version and it is SUPERB! What the better colour one does must be something else as this is enough for me.

It has a memory for regular destinations and is easy to use. Turn a dial, push enter , to key in address one letter at a time. It pre-empts you all the time which is good to kep typing to a minimum. I COULD NOT MANAGE WITH OUT SAT NAV ! I am a rep and drive 30,000 miles a year. I reckon my sat nav helps me do one call a day more than my colleagues without it! This soon adds up and that is 200 extra calls a year! It pays for itself. You also arrive on calls less stressed beause you know you are going to get there. In 11 months doing 5-6 calls a day I have only had to refer to a map 5 times! I seriously would not have any car now without sat nav! If tomorrow I had to change car I would rather downgrade with sat nav than upgrade without. IT IS AS ESSENTIAL A SALES TOO AS YOUR PRESENTER AND SAMPLES OR THE CAR ITSELF!

The nice thing about the 607 is the heads it turns. New customers comment on it. It oozes success and creates an aura for you that they are dealing with a person who knows their stuff.

RELIABILITY.

All 3 previous 406's never broke down. The 607 has once when the bearings in the fuel pump went in the outside lane of motorway. Fixed in 4 days under warranty. No other problems or recalls. Maybe I just had a lucky run with the 406's.

GADGETS AND TOYS.

Electric seats!

Button inside boot to close lid automatically. Excellent on those wet and mucky winter days to keep your hands and cuffs clean.Everone comments on it as they havent seen it before...even the peugeot mechanics!

6 play cd in boot.

Electric windows all round.

Computer display for mpg etc.

Boot size is the biggest I have ever seen!

Leg room front and back is massive.

Nice seats. Not too hard hard like vw, bmw etc, not too soft like renault etc.

I average 37mpg for a combination of round town and motorway. The 406 did 46mpg so it is a guzzler in comparison but I am not paying for it so I dont mind! Still for its size and weight 37 isnt too bad I dont think.

DISLIKES.

Vast size sticks out at front and back in parking bays at supermarket, mcdonalds etc.

BASIC MODEL DOES NOT HAVE PARKING SENSORS AND THIS SHOULD BE STANDARD BECAUSE OF SHEER SIZE.

Washer bottle is tiny and windscreen is huge. My 406 was rarely filled between services. The 607 has to be filled weekly.

No car is perfect. The pluses far outweigh the minuses. If you like a big car this is top value, very comfortable. A real head turner and you feel very special in it...very statesman like!

I would buy another and recommend it to all.
