Advantages: Motorway performance, equipment, economy
Disadvantages: Rear leg room - lack of! Gear box could be smoother
I bought my Clio about a year ago, and have since covered about 16,000 miles. £9000 (approx) got me metallic paint, 15" alloys, electric sunroof, elec adjustable and heated mirrors, air con, auto lights and wipers, ABS/Brake Assist/Electronic Brake Distribution, 4 airbags, CD player
You'l be pressed to get this level of equipment on an 06 example of this version of Clio (Campus), due to the arrival of the new model. So if your looking to buy this model, you'd do best looking for a 6 month second hand example.
RIDE AND HANDLING
For a kick-off, the ride is pretty good. It smoothes over the many imperfections in the road, but could be a little softer over speed humps. As for the handling, it has tonnes of grip on corners and the steering is sharp and responsive, the chassis could be a bit stiffer, though. The brakes are fantastic - many a fox/rabbit owes its life to them.
If you do motorway driving, your just as well catered for. For a 1.2 it has a surprising amount of pull at motorway speeds, from 60 onwards it gets better the faster you go, until it tops out at about 100mph. Its quite happy doing the tonne, it feels relaxed and there is no vibrations, although it gets a bit windy. Stick to 70-80 and its exactly the same minus the wind noise.
INTERIOR
Not the most exciting interior. The digital screen displaying fuel and temperature levels and various statistics, such as fuel economy, range till next fill up (very useful) and average speed. The dashboard is has a nice texture to it, and the steering wheel is leather. For those requiring storage, there's a roomy glovebox and the door pockets are generous too.
The seats are comfy and you can squeeze 3 people in the back making use of the 3 head restraints and 3 three-point seatbelts.
Summary: Overall, a good car for most types of driving, and quite fun
