Advantages: Reliable engine

Disadvantages: Build quality & electrics

I purchased my Clio three years ago when she was three years old so she is now six. Firstly let me say that a Clio was by no means my first choice car but due to a mishap with an uninsured driver it was all I could afford to insure being a low band 4.
I had never owned a French car before, my previous being an MG and I shall never buy French again.
The car has had nothing but problems since I purchased it. The oil dipstick is siezed and has never worked. I had huge problems with the starter motor shorting out which was due to poor quality electric connections being used in the manufacture of the car. A CV Gater joint seems to crack on an annual basis making MOT time expensive, I have it replaced and another one will crack without fail.
The electrics in general are shocking, everytime I break my rear windscreen wipers and fog lights come on, its thought this is a crossed connecction somewhere but without tearing the car apart I'm not sure it will ever be found!

The engine itself is actually quite good, other than the starter issue I have never had any other problems with it, although it does need to be worked and revved quite hard in order to safely overtake or pull away.

The car is quite comfortable to drive but I do get a sore back on long journeys.

All in all a car made on the cheap with terrible electronics. I will not but Renault again.

Summary: If you can afford it go Japanese
