1.2 RN Club Med, an excellent 2nd-hand buy!!! (Renault Clio (1991-98))

Advantages: Economical, very comfortable, no need for power steering at all!

Disadvantages: Parts can be pricey but nothing went wrong with my car when i had it.

Now I'm writing about the older Clio, a P-reg, not the new bubbly ugly thing. I bought my p-reg brand new as my first car and bitterly regret having changed it after two years for a Vitara. That is the worst and most regrettable mistake I have made. It was a wonderfully economical motor. I never had any problems starting it, no problems with servicing and the dealership in Croydon where I bought it from were superb in every aspect. They really know how to treat their clients - and to me, that is very important.

My model was a 1.2RN Club Med - the interior was perfect. It is a very nippy car and feels more than a 1.2. (I can't imagine what the 3L version they're bringing out will be like!)Infact if you're stuck on whether to choose between the smaller cars when buying quality second hand, and you see a Club Med, get it. I never had any problems with the car itself - it always started and nothing went wrong with it. Servicing it at Renault was well priced and all in all I don't have any complaints about it. I wish i could turn back the clock - i wouldn't have sold it.

If you're thinking of buying a secondhand Clio and are unsure about my advice look at the online car magazines like Exchange and Mart and read their opinion on that year's model! It's always best to research these things...don't take one person's opinion.
