Advantages: 3.0 V6 24-Valve....say no more.
Disadvantages: Poor interior.
When a friend of mine bought a Renault Clio sport, I laughed. Why? Well for one reason it was a 'Renault' sports car and the second was the price......more than a Lotus Elise. However, after he kindly lent it to me for the weekend, I changed my mind totally. The car is awesome to drive and the massive 3.0 24-Valve V6 engine roars along the motorway, leaving all the Vauxhall Astras and the Ford Mondeos of the world, way way behind. The engine sounds terrific and delivers 230 BHP. However, having such a big engine in such a small car usually means a car that is amazingly quick. The Renault Clio is quick, but certainly NOT super quick. Other limitations are that there are only two seats in the car.....a big drawback. Also, the bootspace is absolutely tiny, just 2.4 cu ft compared with the normal Renault Clio's 9.1. The interior of this car has it's advantages and disadvantages. The car doesn't seem like something you've paid a hell of a lot of money for, it just feels like an ordinary Clio. However you are pampered with luxuries like a CD-Autochanger, air conditioning and leather seats. So, what is the verdict. Well the looks alone will leave customers queuing up to buy this car. Well, as for me..........IF ONLY IT HAD FOUR DAMN SEATS!!!!!

- 05/08/02 Mmmm...lovely. Still, I think I'd rather have the Lotus Elise at that price. Would give the 172 a go if 1357 fancied lending it to me at any point. Thanks for the useful info dooyoomad :) |

- 05/11/01 Ive got a clio renaultsport 2.0 16v 172 - the V6 is probably the only car I would swap it for ! (even though the v6 is hardly any faster !). |
