Advantages: Quiet, Smooth driving, Very Cheap Insurance
Disadvantages: squeaky windscreen wipers, back not that spacious
The Megane is obviously a classy looking car, but appearance isn't everything! So although I'd heard its the safest car in its class (according to the advert) that would have to be tested when I tried to insure it. To my great delight my new 1.4 Megane (99 V reg actually) was only going to cost me an extra £50 to insure from my bog standard 1.2 Vauxhall Corsa. Amazing or what? Things have only got better......this car is so quiet when its running I sometimes reach for the key to turn on the ignition. The one I bought is a special addition 'Liberte' so even though its only a RN I still got central locking, electric windows and stereo controls ont he steering wheel. This may all sound pretty standard but compared to my faithful old corsa its worlds apart. The gear changes are so smooth, although its taking a while to get the clutch and accelerator ratio I've stalled it a few times, but thats probably due to the quiet engine! The upholstery is nice, nothing flashy or ugly, its all very classy. The stereo is fairly basic but the steering wheel controls make it ten times more impressive. There's a button to lock all the doors so no one can open the doors from outside which is quite good for girls on their own. The heating system is great, I hardly have to switch the fans on and the cars warm in no time which is great in this country!! The boot is huge, although the back seats aren't as spacious as I thought it would be in a five door car. Overall though I am very impressed and have had no problems.
