Advantages: Lots of space and storage areas and good on petrol
Disadvantages: Maybe more than one cup holder?
I've had this car for nearly three years now and I've only ever experienced one thing that needed to be repaired which we managed to get done quite cheap too! (less than £100). I think this is really good as the car was already second hand when we bought it (2years old) and still had never had major work before either so shows a good reliable car I think!
The car:
The model I am reviewing is the 1.4 Renault Megane Scenic Expression.
The features:
It has bags loads of room as we originally bought this car as we have 3 dogs and wanted to be able to fit them in the boot comfortably but we find the large amount of space in the back seats come in handy for days out with our friends too!
The car is a 5 seater which even when fully occupied still feels spacious and the driver and front passenger seats are large and spacious too. The back of the two front seats have trays attached which have cup holders already fitted into them. The front part of the car only has one holder though and this is the only thing I don't like!
The boot as mentioned is large and even with three dogs in there they have loads of room for journeys out. The back seats fold down making it easy to transport large goods and one of the best things about the car that is so handy is the amount of storage places - it has drawers under each front seat, little cubby holes in the floor in front of each back seat, a glove box as normal plus an extra storage hole on the front dash, two huge panels in the boot and two smaller compartments in the boot on the walls.
The car came with a tape player but if buying new now it can be bought with a cd player. The car has electronic windows in the front and manual in the back. The front ones can be controlled by the drivers side for both the windows. The car also has a electronic meter on the dash that tells you mileage and how many miles are left with the petrol you have in the tank. When you first turn the ignition on it will also tell you if the oil level is ok or not. The car has air conditioning as standard.
Petrol:
Now I'm not really savvy when it comes to all this how many litres to this etc and all that so to give an idea on how good the petrol is on this car, I'll give you an idea of how much it uses.
Bearing in mind that this is a ''family car'' and is made for 5 passengers you think it would be quite heavy on petrol but, this isn't the case. We have driven on plenty of occasions from Manchester to London with a full car of people and we've filled the car up completely (which costs approx £50-£55 pounds) and we've managed to get all the way there and even some of the way back before needing to even fill up. Now to me this is ace as when I had a smaller car with a smaller engine it cost me just the same and yet I couldn't get as many people in the car! This means that to go on days out I know I can accommodate a group of us and by splitting the cost of the petrol it works out a cheap day out.
Overall, this is and ace car that is actually pretty cheap to run and is also a comfortable drive with lots of space for everyone. As I mentioned before, I've now had this car for nearly three years and when I bought it, the car was already two years old. Considering I've only had one major thing to repair on it, the car is withstanding and in my opinion a reliable car to own. I wouldn't hesitate to buy one of these again in the future
Summary: A good choice for families

freediveheaven - 03.05.08 Have not said what it is like to drive which for me is the most important thing for a car review, sort of like reviewing food without mentioning taste. Let me know if you edit and I will re-rate. |
