Renault Grand Espace in general ... entering second month of ownership of a 1998 Renault Grand Espace, bought after a hard August slog on t internet! It took the month to find a vehicle that could carry a 3/4 Double Bass, its teenaged player and his Mom, me at the wheel and the old and doddery parents-in-law in comfort. Yes! I ve done it all in a month, more besides. My 98 Diesel is in RXE trim (Think Ghia+) which version I homed in on. "Homed in on" may be a misnomer. I had to go to Gwent to get what I wanted. 98 RXEs are like hen s teeth. The distinctive diesel rattle on start-up is about the only sound that intrudes the plush interior. Renault Megane 1.4 8v 5dr ... to grass. So a replacement car was in order. We couldn t afford a new car - we had a budget of around £5,000. I insisted that any car we bought must have power steering and electric front windows (and, of course, an engine, 4 wheels etc). Any other extra features were just that - extra. We scoured the local papers and visited used car lots. From a Lexus dealership, we came across a P-reg red Renault Megane 1.4 with power steering, electric front windows and an electric sunroof. Renault Scenic in general ... grand scenic expression 1.5 DTi Having both rented one of these vehicles and now owned one for a year I felt it time to review this vehicle. Unfortunately I can t find the exact catagory so I ve decided it s suitable to place it here. Safety ratings - Having achieved a massive 34 points in the safety ratings, which puts it in the 5 start bracket (highest available).This tops most of it s rival 5 star companions by an extra point as the majority enter the 5 star bracket with 33 points.
