I have had a 2 litre Rover Sdi for about a year and covered about 25000 miles in that time, up and down the M4. My first impression was how heavy it is. My left calf has grown in size since I have had the car! And the heavy engine really weighs down the front of the car, giving some strange handling characteristics. At first, going around tight corners feels like you are fighting to stop the car from heading in a straight line. The performance is excellent - at least as fast as a large sized petrol engine, though it has the typical broader diesel rev range. I wanted a car that was fast but frugal and I think I found it. It has been absolutely reliable and I will be sorry to see it go when I get a company car soon. The only downsides are the space in the back (limited) and some of the controls have a plastic feel to them. The alarm tends to go off at strange times too! It was broken into outside my house and the damn thing chose not to go off so I don't leave valuables on show. Its now been superceded by the 25 and if you want to support British Industry then rest assured this is a more than adequate car.
