Advantages: Mildly interesting from the front.

Disadvantages: everything else

This car has to be one of the dullest cars I have driven since the Granada. Aesthetically from the outside it is reasonably attractive(unless you have the most basic model),but once you climb inside and notice all the garish fake wood veneer mixed with chrome it spoils the impression achieved by the outside appearance.Start the engine and of you go (slowly).Supposedly this model is the sports injection (si)but what it is injecting must be a barbiturate because it is so slow. The handling is reasonable but nothing so fabulous to leave a lasting impression.Overall this car bored me so much I had to get the defribulator out because my heart had stoped beating.I havent driven the turbo version but i`m sure it`s a hell of a lot better than this one.Never ever purchase one 1/10!

Yes it was an earlier model and definitely not a VTEC, but I can see why it is a popular choice for taxi drivers, not because it has a big ashtray and puke-retardant seats, but because last I heard mine had done 145k on the original clutch. As for the service and new exhaust making it go like a rocket, challenger springs to mind.

I work for a taxi company and the Rover 620si is fast becoming a popular motor for us. The newer ones have a Honda VTEC engine and are brilliant motors. I think you probably had an earlier model and if you did then fair enough, I'd agree with you

Oh No, No, No! I couldn't agree less! Mine was indeed a tad slow, but after a service and a new exhaust, it would take off like a rocket. 3rd could be spectacular and I could get to 70 with the revs barely touching 3.5k.

I have a bad back and the comfort level is superb. Journies are now a pleasure instead of a pain (literally).

MPG is btwn 28 - 40, with the best achieved by cruising at 80mph!!

Are you sure yours wasn't a NYTOL rep's cast-off?
