I took an interest in the MGF as soon as I heard of it and went to Silverstone for a classic car meeting in 1995 when I learned that a pre-production model would be on display. To my engineer's eye that car was very close to production spec and I resolved to buy one. I waited until I could sample a demonstrator before ... Read the complete review

I've owned my new MGF steptronic for 5 months now and have just hit the 10,000 mile mark. And I have to say that at present, i've been more than happy with the vehicle, I read loads of reports before deciding to plum for the F and took note of a lot of the knocks about its build quality, smell of petrol and all the other ... Until yesterday I owned a low milage V place VVC. Performance and handling were superb but the whole experience was tainted by high running costs and shoddy build quality. I had problems with the suspension and tracking (common apparently), lots of bits of the cabin seemed to be about to fall off, Rover servicing seemed extremley ... Read the complete review

I've owned my MGF from new (Dec 98) and, yes, I have had some major problems, but I believe they are getting better. I have driven my car every single day and it has stood outside in all weathers. Yes, there are some leaks around the windows, but I've seen that happen on all convertibles, from Escorts (my dodgy past is ... Read the complete review

Despite some negative reports from Internet sources I brought an MGF some months ago and since have been very please with it. Despite being a CVT, which I was wary of, the performance is very good, without the gear change lurches of other auto cars. I went for a very high level of options, which does add somewhat to the cost, ... Read the complete review

My partner purchased an MGF several months ago. Being a car enthusiast, I was aware of the problems that many owners had experienced, and tried to disuade her from buying. She went ahead and bought a twelve month old average mileage car - solely because she thinks they look fantastic. Whilst I agree they look cute (allthough ... Read the complete review

My mother got her first MGF three years ago and within two weeks both wing mirrors had fallen off and the rain had leaked inside the drivers door. At 9000 miles both front tyres had worn to below the legal limit due to to a suspension problem. But, all credit to Rover, they sorted all these problems out and the attentiveness of our local ... A friend of mine bought an MGF 14 months ago and it turned out to be a real banana. Out of that time it has spent 4 months in the garage for various different problems. The engine was noisy, I know with it being mid mounted you expect some noise, but this was appaling. After having the car for a month it was returned to the dealer ... Read the complete review

Since we brought the mg in winter 98', it has leaked with the slightest amount rain, leaving you annoyed and confused why it does this. One reasons can be found in the sleaing of the hood. The front clips are often postioned wrongly, and thus a little gap is left. The spec of ours was the 1.8 lt This is the current ... Read the complete review
