I coundn't decide on my new car, and after tossing up between a VW Golf, Audi A4 and BMW 3 Series, I didn't buy any of them! That's because I found the Toledo V5, which must be the performance bargain of year.

I quite fancied the Skoda Octavia RS Turbo, but discounted that as I found the performance excellent, but a bit choppy like all turbos. I found the V5 smooth and refined, delivering power and torque all day long. This is such a great drivers car, the car sticks like glue and is a real pleasure to drive. It oozes torque, which has become really addictive! The front seats are the most supportive I have ever tried and the even a big bloke like me can find the best driving position with the fully automatic adjustable seat and reach and rake adjustable steering column. The half leather and half alcantara trim is top quality and looks really smart, especially in the darker colour.

The standard equipment is fantastic, with full climate control, electric windows, traction control, and even the standard Sat Nav is great. I thought i wouldn't use it much, but it is really useful and in full colour I can't go wrong again! I needed a reliable car as I cover about 2500 miles a month and after nearly 4 months of ownership and 8000 this car has been spot on. I had a couple of snags, namely a bent windscreen wiper, defective lamba sensor and wrong disk for the Sat Nav but these were fixed immediately by the dealer with no delay. To highlight the extensive standard equipment list, the only factory fitted option you can pay for is metallic paint, and I got that included with a big discount from a dealer!

The only downside I can see is that there isn't much roon in the back, as it is based on the Golf, but it isn't that bad unless the front passengers have 4 foot long legs! If the back is for anyone other than 6 footers it isn't an issue. The upside of this is a boot so large that you could live in it!

e looking for a quality sports saloon that won't break the bank you could do a lot worse than the Seat Toledo V5. Just sit snuggly in your leather and alcantara seats and let the smoothness of the delivery of those 170 horses wash over you!
