Advantages: Lot's of equipment, good driving position, nice interior, good quality ride e.t.c
Disadvantages: Still is a Skoda.
I'll start straight way by saying the the Skoda Fabia is THE supermini to buy. The Fabia is an absolute bargin, it truly is cheap to buy. A 3 year warranty, AA cover, Air Conditioning, power steering, 8 SPEAKER STEREO, driver and passenger airbags the list goes on. But it's not just about the equipment list. The build quality and attention to detail is also on a par if not better than it VW stablemates. The interior is well laid out and feels like true German class. The driving position can be adjusted to any driver size or shape (except maybe a person over 6ft 2'). The seat can be adjusted for height as well as the steering well for reach and rake. The ride and handling is not only the top of the supermini class but as good as cars in the next class up. Having driven both the Fabia and Golf, the ride in the Fabia is the equal to the Golf but has superior handling (yeah right you may be thinking, try for yourselves). This is only a brief opinion, but if you are looking at buying a supermini take a serios look at the Fabia, you won't be disappointed. Don't worry about the stigma attached to the Skoda name. It's not totally gone yet but it's not far off. People at petrol stations seriously do look at this car and wonder 'what little vandel has stuck a Skoda badge on a nice car like that'.

- 09/09/02 I own a Polo TDI, I have just had a Fabia Elegence 1.9TDi on rental. In all respects bar one the Skoda wins. It really is a better ride, much faster, smoother quieter and better equiped. I think that the model I had with a light tan interior fell down in the quality of the plastics for the glove box and the stuck on lining on the door panel. They were clearly inferior to almost every car and were bound to show dirt and skuff marks very easily. Would I buy one - well, if I could get a dark interior, oh yes, definitely |

- 28/08/02 I totally agree, I test drove a Fabia TDi and the new Polo Sport TDi. There was no contest, the Fabia beat it hands down and it £2000 cheaper. It drove better, handled better, was quicker and more quiet! Plus I preferred the interior of the Fabia. As soon as there is an Estate category I will be putting up my review of the car. Don't discount it just because it is a Skoda, you will be pleasantly surprised! |

- 16/06/01 Not a car that sends my pulses racing -though I have read other reports praising it as well. I'll keep saving my Dooyoo money for a Merc! Kay |
