Disadvantages: Hard to get hold of - they're really that good no-one parts with them !!!

Fantastic car !!!!!...My partner and I were looking to replace our main car after it was written off in an accident. We knew we needed a family car with plenty of boot space; a car that would tolerate the stop start driving you experience within towns but also manage long distance trips to Scotland without breaking the bank in fuel costs. We also knew that we wanted a well built car that had a good rating in the Euro Ncap crash tests (We started to look around at what was available and then I spotted a Skoda during one of our trips to Scotland and suddenly my eyes were opened!! We then did a lot of research, particularly on the internet and using car price guides and decided that the car we wanted was an Octavia 1.9 Tdi SLX. My partner test drove one at a local dealership but unfortunately they wanted too much for it so we kept looking. Believe me, trying to find a second hand model with low mileage at a reasonable price is quite a task but one that we eventually managed!!! And by God are we chuffed we went to all that trouble finding the right car!!

We trawled through various magazines, internet sites and suddenly we saw the car we wanted advertised! It was 200+ miles away near Brighton but well worth the travelling to get what we wanted. The dealership was fantastic, very helpful and we saved £1000 compared to the exact same model we test drove at our local dealership!!

The Skoda does everything we want it to do and more. The boot space is HUUUUGE, we often get 60mpg (and you don't have to dawdle to achieve this!) It has climate control, CD player and is just fantastic. The dials are clear to see, the trip computer gives you all the info you want about mpg etc and it really is a well built car. I feel extremely safe in it when driving (4 stars in Euro Ncap testing and airbags all round.) Everything under the bonnet i.e. dipstick, water etc is very well placed and after 2 months we have had absolutley no problems with it. I must admit that one
of the reasons for buying a Skoda from a dealership was the fact that Skoda give you a full year's warranty on their second hand cars which is sooooo reassuring. Buying a car is big money and can be a big gamble so we wanted to buy as safe as possible. The dealership carried out all the necessary HPI checks and by chance we even met the original owner of the car (he was bringing in the car docs) who himself had just upgraded to a brand new Skoda. If it's a Skoda you want then stay true to your heart and find that car of your dreams. I get such a buzz when passing Audi's etc knowing what I've got for my money. I cannot fault it. My partner wishes it had a rear window wiper but I believe the new models have that feature. Buy one...you will not regret the decision.
