Advantages: Great roadholding-and fun to drive. Disadvantages: a little heavier on petrol consumption
I am currently driving the Sport version of the 2 litre Subaru Impreza. I am finding its road holding ability quite remarkable. You do feel the difference in grip after driving two wheel drive cars. I think too that what has surprised me is the quietness of the car when the windows are closed. It has good suspension and evens out many a bump. There is a little whistling sound noticeable when you drive with the driver's window open-but this is definitely liveable with. I find it responsive to the accelerator- and in fact it does feel that the engine is waiting for you to rev it up. The clutch I have found to have a very long travel, and it is quite heavy. The gear box is chunky, I am not yet an expert in selecting reverse. The interior is rather plain, but this means that there are fewer distractions. The steering I find really responsive, and overall I find that it is a thoroughly enjoyable car to drive. The boot has plenty of room for the golf clubs and trolley, though there is a spacesaver tyre underneath there. There is not a lot of room in the back for passengers who come along for the ride, but the front seats feel as though they have reasonable support for the back. Summary: |
