Advantages: Economical, cheap insurance, reliable and good looking

For the past six years I have driven around in Suzuki Swifts. My first one was a 1993 1.3 GLS four door which, although for an old car, drove really well. It's exceleration was very good for a small engine, and the gearbox was smooth and precise. The colour was gun metal grey, which I didn't mind but some of the newer colours for this model up to about 2002 are quite horrible especially the purple/blue, but that's only my personal opinion.

My latest model which I've had for about two years is like the car on the topic heading, green! It's again a 1.3 1998 two door but it's a GLX which is not quite as quick as the GLS. There is little difference between the two years except the 1998 has electric windows. For a little car they are quite nippy but this doesn't effect the economy. I use mine daily for work and roughly do about 100 - 150 miles a week and I spend about £15 on fuel giving me about 40 m.p.g. The insurance on these cars is reasonable but you do have to look around to get the best deal.

The Suzuki Swift is an ideal second car as it's cheap to run, very reliable and easy to park etc., in car parks. It's quick enough and comfortable enough to take a long journey in and ultimately an all round car. They are relatively cheap to maintain and parts are easy to come by.

I'm now a convicted Swift lover and will certainly be looking for another one to replace the one I've got when the time comes!
