Advantages: Good fuel economy with the diesel version., Fairly cheap to buy., Good ride, top speed, acceleration and feels safe.

Disadvantages: Low seat position, makes visibility poor., High back window also makes it hard to see when reversing.

Recently we purchased a Toyota Carina II, as our Volvo was far too expensive to run due to the high cost of petrol. The 2.0 litre diesel Toyota seemed an excellent choice for fuel economy. We had never owned a Toyota car before, but had been recommended the Carina by a relative. The J Reg Toyota Carina II appears to be a fairly large family sized car, which is quite comfortable. The seats do appear to be quite low, which makes the view different to out previous car, as now you are looking upwards a lot more, and the view through the rear window is quite poor due to it being a hatchback car, with a high window at the back. It is a very nice car to drive, and also fairly quiet for a diesel. It has powersteering, making it easy to park, but it does seem a little too light. The car is quite large, and seems sturdy and safe. The car does have luxury items, such as electric sunroof and electric windows, although I prefer the normal manual window winder, as it can not really go wrong! Although we have not had the car long we are very impressed, as we thought we may regret the change, and the fuel economy seems very good. The ride is excellent, and the car goes very well, quite quick acceleration, and a high top speed. A great car in my opinion, which is still going strong and appears fairly new although having done many miles.
