Advantages: Looks great, reliable, good for the money

Disadvantages: Rear seats are cramped, can be a bit expensive on petrol

My husband has had this car for three years and everybody loves it.
It looks great and handles really well - we paid £11,000 for a four year old car with rear spoiler, leather seats and 28,000 on the clock. It has cost very little to service (though we don't use the main dealer because they are about £65 an hour just for labour) and nothing has gone wrong in all that time.

The front two seats are extremely comfortable and roomy and there are airbags all over the place.
The drive is great - the car lets you know exactly what is going on on the road and it handles twists and turns well. It is really fun to drive - but it doesn't accelerate as fast as it might. It does only have a 1.8 engine, and when you put your foot down, for a few seconds you do really know you only have 1.8 under your bonnet. But it cruises at high speeds once it gets there and certainly can do corners at quite fast speeds, hugging the road really well. Gear changes are easy but you need loads of revs before each change to make the most of the performance of this car.

It only does about 30-32 to the gallon, but handles like a sports car - hugs the road and has 6 gears. The black leather bucket seats are great though elderly relatives find them tricky to get in an out of! There are two bucket seats in the back, and my children are happy there (both under 5) but it is only suitable for an adult for a short journey/lift home. Three doors make the back inaccessible as well as cramped, but you don't buy a Celica for its family friendly properties!
You can get loads in the hatchback boot though, as the rear seats fold fully down, though its better for length than height.

I'd buy another one.

Summary: A brilliant car of its type

We once had an earlier version of this as a company car for a short while. It was great, Susan
