My Toyota Corolla has been going now since 2000. It is a 1.6 petrol engine on a W reg with 87000 miles on the clock. To me this car still drives like new. The clutch has never slipped and the gear change is still free and easy. So far, touch wood, nothing has needed changing other than a new battery. I bought a Corolla from a recommendation from a family member. They have always been really popular in my family and Toyotas seem to be very hard wearing and reliable. To me this generalisation seems to be right. It has sailed through its MOT every year since I got it. When I was looking for a new car I looked at a 206, a Focus and an Astra. The ... Top Gear says so, so it must be true. Actually, it is true. When you turn the wheel, it goes round a corner, with no concern or effort. When you push the brakes it slows down or stops. That's so dull. When you leave the house, you KNOW you're going to get to work. It's not going to break down on the way. There goes my excuse. When you go for a trip out, it will get you there, with no problems whatsoever. I'm getting really bored with that. A Car to be Proud of - the advert says - so with expectations high I trooped off to the local Toyota dealer for a test drive. Exterior First impressions are OK. (Ignore the pictures on this website, the Corolla has been updated)The Corolla adopts the current fashion for chunkier, taller vehicles which fit somewhere between a hatchback and mini-MPV. It has a well rounded, unoffensive appearance, the front grille doesn't look quite right but this seems to be part of the new Toyota image as it is just a larger version of the Yaris. The car looks very smart with front fog lights and alloys - and all in all - a pleasing package. (The sales rep did not ... Read the complete review

Toyotas are renowned for their reliability and mine has been no exception. Jeremy Clarkson may not like the car but even he admits that it has too many good points for it to be ignored completely. Servicing isn't too expensive and even my 1994, L Reg, 1400, XLi still gets 38 miles to the gallon. It's reliable, affordable and parts don't cost extortionate amounts of money. Oh... and having rolled my first one onto it's roof (my inexperience, not the cars fault), I can say they are safe. All the panels got dented but the shape of the car remained. I can say nothing bad about it! ******************************************* ... Read the complete review
