I bought a 1988 Toyota Corolla GTI about 3 years ago for £1600, it was my first car.

It was owned by my boss when i worked at Halfords, and he had treated it to a few goodys.

* 15" TSW Stealths

* Scorpion Stainless exhaust

* JR Induction kit

* Jamex Sports suspension kit.

As soon as i saw it, i fell in love with it.

Its been a pleasure to own, and i have had no real problems.

A couple of minor issues, but most parts are readily available from mail order scrap dealers.

Its got 152,000 miles on it at the moment, and is still going strong.

Its performance is excellent, and it will eat most hot hatches for breakfast.

It handles great too, and seems to stick to the road.

The styling is still not that dated either. Its 14 years old, and still turns heads.

The insurance was painful at first, as a new driver I paid £1300 TPF&T. It was worth it though.

The only complaint i have, is that the corollas after looked so boring.

I have recently bought a Fiat Bravo 1.8 16v, so the Corolla has gotta go.

I am gonna miss it, but have sold it to one of my mates for £500, so at least i know its going to a good home.

The new Corolla T-sport looks nice, its got the performance too. A bit costly at the moment, but maybe in a few years time :o)
