Advantages: clear

Disadvantages: dated model

1.6 Twin cam. 2 seater coupe.

I ran one of these for about 2 years and was only forced to sell when a child came along and an extra seat was required. It was superb.

Autocar magazine rated it higher than a Ferrari for handling, crediting the mid-engine mounting as the prime reason for the superb 'cornering on rails' capability. Unlike oher mid-engine machines such as a Porsche 911, the MR2 did not suffer from a lot of rear end wobble and was esceptionally good in the wet.

The transmission on these cars was always manual and was perhaps a little lumpy. High specification levels were the norm and the T-bar, leather seated variety the most popular.

they can still be bought today, a 1990 G-plate being the last, but for less tha £3,000, whose complaining.

Japanese refinements do not mask this quality vehicle.
