The Toyota Previa is the King of MPVs. Renault's Espace may have started the trend, but the Previa has long overtaken all other MPVs for its unbeatable versatility and the fact that it is STILL the only vehicle of its class that can take 8 people in confort. Even with the back seats folded up to give it massive carrying capabilities, it can still carry 5 in comfort. If you wish to increase the cargo space, the next row of seats can be pushedright forward, still leaving 2 seated in comfort. The advantage is that the seats do not have to be removed and stored elewhere when taking advantage of the load carrying capabilities. So you can take your load from A to B, offload it, reconfigure the seating and continue from B to C with a car full of passengers. The Previa is also very easy to drive with superb handling and the best mirrors I've ever seen on any vehicle, making manoeuvering far simpler than with many smaller cars. In short, the Previa has to be my first choice, every time.
