Advantages: Speed, Comfort (front seats only:)), All the features you'd expect from a modern car

Disadvantages: Expensive cost of running

Since there were no reviews of any newer Supras, I thought I would write one on my weekend toy I purchased a few weeks ago.

It's a 1988 2954cc (3litre) Toyota Supra, non Turbo.

Pushing a top speed of nearly 160mph from 178kw of power, and 0-60mph in (from memory) around 5 seconds, it's one of the fastest things on the road. There hasn't actually been any real modifications to the car overall - they're not needed. Standard, it comes with:

Auto gearbox (with the power of a manual)
Electric Windows
Electric Mirrors
Power Steering
Electric Seats (including side supports)
ABS Brakes
Cruise Control
Climate Control (heating + air con. incl.)
Sports pack (spoiler, skirting, body kit)
Adjustable steering column
Alloy wheels

(a car with all these features, 15 years old)

The only real problems I have with the car are that its suspension is a little firm, which I've found with other Supras that I've test driven in the past, and there is basically no back seat. I'm quite tall (6'2"), and have to drive with the drivers seat back as far as it will go. In this configuration, I can't fit my arm between the front/rear seats, let alone a pair of somebody's legs. I have had 4 adults in the car before, but it wasn't particularly comfortable for those in the back.

Suspension and rear passenger space aside, it's a pretty smoothe ride. It's not the quietest car you'll find (if you put your foot down, the engine will rev at a volume which will make everybody around stop and look), however if you're after a car with a silly amount of power and speed, you've just found it.

Oh. I'd advise you to have a pretty solid petrol budget too (running a 70 litre tank @ around 55 pounds to fill up, and getting maybe 350 miles from it), but if you enjoy your cars fast, I'm sure this is something you're already aware of :) r>
Highly recommended if you're just after a weekend cruiser, OR there won't be more than 2 people in your car. If you're looking at purchasing one, I'd also strongly advise you go for one with a nice interior as well as the exterior - mine's immaculate, especially compared to many others I saw. It was worth a little extra spending.

Nice one - I am thinking of one of the new shape ones on an 'M' or 'N' plate. These have the 3l twin turbo engine. But can I afford to run it? Probably not!

My son concurs with you as regards value & ooomph. He drove several last year when he worked for a 'grey importer'.

That performance (0-60 in 5 seconds) quoted surely only comes from the Turbo version ? And about 25mpg cannot be sneered at for any performance car.
