Advantages: great looking car with some excellent features

Disadvantages: perhaps the reliability isnt as good as people say

I owned a Toyota Yaris for two years until I recently upsized to a Toyota Corolla. I went with a Toyota as I had learned to drive in a Yaris and liked the look and style of the car, but also because I had been told great stories about their reliability! I had the three door option in red. There was plenty of room in the front of the car and in the back. The boot space wasnt massive but would fit a buggy in their when I took my neice out. The rear seats also slid forward so if you needed more boot space and there was no one in the back you could do this and your boot would almost double in size! I also loved the digital speedo and the trip computer in the car which would let you know exactly how many miles to the gallon you were doing. It was very economical on fuel which was just what I needed as I was driving down the motorway everyday to work. During the time I had a Yaris it failed its first ever MOT on a leaky shock absorber, the clutch was replaced, the brake master cylinder was replaced and the engine blew up costing me a few thousand pounds. I dont know if I was just unlucky with the Yaris I bought but I do know someone else I worked with whos engine also blew up in exactly the same way! I wonder if it more common than people realise?! After two years I have upsized to a Corolla as I wanted a 5 door car and I havent so far had any problems with this. I would say if you are going to look at buying a Yaris get it properly checked out first!
