Advantages: more controls than Jodrell bank, loads of room for passengers in the back, cheaper road tax

Disadvantages: not much room in the boot

My colleague at work has just purchased a Toyota Yaris. I have seen a few on the road, but never really paid much attention to them. The one she's bought is a basic model, two years old, in shiny red metallic paint.

Looking around it, you would not know it was two years old, it has been very well looked after, and has less than 10,000 on the "clock". I was amazed by this little car, and couldn't believe my eyes on various aspects of the car:

*The car is actually a 5-door car, for a super mini like this one, I found this hard to believe.

*I therefore sat in the back seat and I could have held a party in there! Well, not quite, but I reckon there is just as much room than in the back of a 5 door Ford Fiesta, if not more so. As the roof of the car is quite high, there is plenty of spare head room, you would think you were in an estate car.

*The glove box is like Mary Poppin's bag! There are two compartments that slide in and out, as well as extra compartments for cns of pop and 2 further compartments either side of the steering wheel.

*Talking of the steering wheel, this was fully adjustable (not even an option on top of the range Fiestas) to make driving more comfortable. There is also a drivers and passengers air bag fitted as standard.

*My colleague then switched on the ignition. Well, it was a case of "Houston, we are in control...", with more gadgetry than Jodrell Bank. The speedo, mileometer and even petrol guage is all electronic and (probably with the clever use of mirrors) the display looks miles away, making the car seem even bigger. The display is also tilted so that the passenger can't see what speed you're doing. There is even a panel which works out what mpg you are doing.

The only disadvantage of these cars is the tiny amount of space in the boot, it would probably fit about 6 Tesco carrier bags in, certainly no room for a pushchair or other parephenali
a.

For the price, this car is such good value for money and when you're sitting in it, it's more roomy than a Fiesta and even some estate cars. The engine size is 1000cc, so cheaper insurance and road tax. The Toyota name is very reliable and the model should go from strength to strength as a "second" car for a family runaround.
