Advantages: Use it as anything from a two seater to a five seater

Disadvantages: Not the fastest car in the world

The first thing to say is just that the picture here isn't the right one, but was already on Dooyoo. There are plenty of pix on Google Image of the Toyota Yaris Verso.

I'm not going to go overboard on the technical stuff, but will tell you what it's like as a car, and whether it's useful and versatile. You can't get these new any more and they are not that common, but if you're patient, a second hand one should turn up.

OK, it's a bit of a funny looking car and not as whizzo as the Yaris proper, but it's such a practical beast that I love it.

Techno stuff first:
1300 cc engine, with a 1.4 diesel also available.
It does about 44 mpg overall. I know because I've measured it over seven and a half years.
Lots of little standard gizmos like electric windows and mirrors (these make reversing so safe!).
Acceleration is OK - top speed is 101, and I know this for a real fact, officer!
You can add front fog lamps, air conditioning and sat nav if you want.

It will seat five, but you can get rid of the central back seat to make it a four seater, or lose either or both of the other two rear seats into the floor to go down to two or three seats. With two, which is how I normally have it, it's a great luxury van. It will take 2.6 cubic metres of luggage. I don't really know how much that is, but it's somewhere about ten golf bags with room to spare.

Toyotas are renowned for reliability. We have had very few trips to the garage. The most recent was to replace the catalytic converter, this after 85000 miles.

It's very comfortable to drive, as you are quite high off the ground, so it's nice and easy to get in and out of.

We have had the car since 2000, and I hope to take it to 200000 miles, then it can retire when I do, in nine years' time!

Summary: Very practical and has a strange beauty
