I'm a car nut, but always had a passion for German and Italian speed machines. However, at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in July 2000 (see my review for details) I found myself at the top of the course where the cars park at the end of each group run. Several supercars - Lambos, Astons, Ferraris and such like had just appeared in a cloud of dust one by one at the end of their timed session. Each of the drivers looked cool (in their shades), tanned and like they were enjoying themselves. Then a sound more incredible than the Phantom Jets that had earlier been racing not that far overhead burst through the trees in front of me. The TVR which appeared to be much lower and flatter than all the publicity shots I had seen appeared. The (unknown to me) driver appeared after contorting himself out of the rollover cage and removed his crash helmet to a cheer from the assembled crowd. It wasn’t Jim Carey, but if you know what I mean, it was. No drugs can do that! I await an enormous legacy or some other illegal means to acquire the bunce to buy one of these cars. If they’re not too reliable, I’ll have to console myself with a CLK-GTR and a Porsche GTR for everyday use!

- 11/06/01 no criticism taken - don't worry. I'm thicker skinned than that! It was a truly memorable moment though. The driver looked like he had just been on the ride of his life! |

- 11/06/01 Don't take what I said as a criticism! I thought it was an excellent opinion - unfortunately not "very useful", but excellent nonetheless! And you did what they said an wrote about what you knew! |

- 11/06/01 Sadly, I didn't get closer than about 40 feet to the car, so can't offer anything other than a romantic, wistful view of what sounded and looked an amazing car! |
