Advantages: Cheap, Reliable, low insurance.

Disadvantages: Looks are not for everyone, underpowered for some.

I have a 1.0L Agila myself and I do enjoy driving it. The car has been extremely good so far (Only done 16,000 to date) and has had ZERO faults. It is almost two years old and has never seen a garage since it was new (I serviced it myself). It has had no teething problems that you often get with other new cars and has simply worked.

Granted the specification is basic and the looks contraversal but it makes a very practical small car. Because of the tall roof you sit more upright in the sits and so less leg-room is required.

The car is not so good for long motorway jorney's. Whilst it will cruise at 80mph if you make it, it is more confortable at just under 70mph. The Agila is Ok at doing this ocassionally but the engine is just that bit 'bussy' at high speeds because of its low gearing.

In the town the car is in its element. With the wheels pushed into the corners of the car it has a very small turning circle and is very manoverable.

For me the worst thing was the radio. As standard it came with just a radio and two speakers, (Not even a Cassette!!!!) however I can accept this because of its low price and have now fitted a Sony CD player and uprated the speakers.

Econermy depends on your driving. On my normal route, (a few A-roads and into the city)if driven very gently it will do 60mpg and if driven normally around 56mpg. The problem is the motorway. I took a trip to Cardiff and the econermy dropped to about 43mpg.

Finally the best thing is the price. The list price is around £6,500 but I found by going to the bigger vauxhall dealerships they were quite open to negotiation. Also if you have a GM credit card you can earn points to get up to a £1000 off after any deal you negotiated with the dealer. Using this I managed to get mine for £4,500 (The list price was only £6,000 then, Dealorship knocked £500 off, then a thousand points)

Summary: Cheap and reliable but not for everyday motorway use.

I think if I were going to buy a car, I would need to know a lot more about it, although you covered some of my questions with your review. Rachel X
