I've had my Vauxhall Astra 2 years now and although I can agree that it is spacious and has good fuel economy, the Astra has let me down badly on a few points. But before I go knocking it, let me tell you of some more of the Astra's good points. 1. It is a beautiful car to drive. The 1.6 engine is responsive and the power steering makes it one of best cars to handle that I've ever had. 2. I love the shape of the Astra hatchback. It's big, plenty of boot space and it's versatile. It's so damned attractive and has 'street cred' according to some younger admirers in my home town. 3. Since the new style Vauxhall Astra club has come onto the market I fell in love with it as soon as I took it out for a test drive. The special feature which caught my eye was the feeling of spaciousness after driving the previous Astra. The car came with a radio/cassette player as standard. As air conditioning came as standard within this model I could not resist the temptation to buy the car. Since buying it I have not regretted at all in changing to this model. There was one change I made when I finally bought the car, this was that I had the radio/cassette player changed to a radio/cd player. The fuel economy runs at approx 40-45 mpg at a steady 60 mph.
