The Vauxhall Astra is the stalwart of British motoring it's been through four revisions and more facelifts than Michael Jackson, it isn't particularly exciting or good looking yet millions of us have owned one at one time or another. Somewhere out there is my Astra mark III, yep it's true I owned a rather dull, slow uninspiring Astra but it served me well and suited my needs at the time. There lies the key to it's success the Astra is not a sports car nor aimed at people who want one, sure there are sporty versions but why buy a suped up Astra when you can get a real sportscar for the same money. Instead the Astra can be described in one word ... Read the complete review

Eany, meany, miny, moh! Decisions, decisions, hmm Time came to register another car from my stock to use as a run-a-round, for deliveries and to take home at night if I couldn’t be bothered to walk the half-mile to my house. My eyes ran over the various colours and makes of car I had, and then Wallop! It’s you! Mr Vauxhall Astra 1.6 GLS 4 door Saloon in an eye catching, shimmy of a colour, often referred to as Aztec blue! I purchased this car privately, from a good friend of mine who trades part exchange vehicles from main dealers, and this one cam from the local Peugeot dealer, near Poole Bridge. ... So, why don't dooyoo have a place other than the 'other vauxhalls' for me to put a review of the Vauxhall Astra? Well, it doesn't matter. The Astra is a revelation compared with the old model it replaced, and yet it still goes by the same name; I guess becuase people are femiliar with it. So just how much better is the new Astra than the old? Well, for starters the design is so much better. Admittedly, most previous Vauxhall cars were not that stylish, and the new Astra isn't overly exciting but the 3 Door model is so much more sporty looking than the 5 door. The interior isn't as dull as every car magazine and program will ... Read the complete review

OK, so they are not exactly breath taking to look at. Being one of the UK's most popular medium hatchbacks means you will see the Vauxhall Astra MK3 alot. And you probably don't even notice. But surely there has to be a reason for their popularity?? The first MK 3 Astras were made in 1991, J reg. In 1995 (M) they were slightly revised. With the introduction of better engines ( ECOTEC ) in higher spec models, and improved suspension and shocks in all cars. Also, power stearing became standard. THE MODELS: MERIT. The most basic runabout. Cheap, with few frills. I used to own one, and found it very reliable, and ... Read the complete review

Ever wondered what the name ASTRA stands for. In my opinion it can be summed up in one word QUALITY. I have had an astra for two years now and it was the first proper nearly new car that I have bought. I have had 5oo quid metros and stuff while I was a student but now Im in the real world of work I got a real car. This has been an absolute beauty of a car for me. Ive never had any problems with it. It has passed its MOT's firs time every time. The only thing that has gone wrong on it is the brake pads and that cant be seen as something goinbg wrong anyweay as its just normal wear. Even so its damn cheap to get them replaced. Only 35 quid at an approved ... Read the complete review
