Advantages: Thats a tough one, Okay I give up, Come on give me a clue

Disadvantages: Reliability, Performance

I have had my 1.4LS for about 18 months now and think I rushed in to it. I was driving an old Orion before which I rolled in to the showroom with a blown head gasket and rolled back out with my shiny new Astra.
The car won't win no awards for its looks but isn't the ugliest car on the road. It's comfortable to drive and fits four mates in okay.
My main problem with it is firstly, its lack of power and most importantly the problems I have had with it mechanically. Going up hill I can do a maximum of sixty mile an hour. Less if the gradient is bad enough. (Not one to take to the lake district) In the time I have had the Astra I have had to replace the catalytic converter(expensive), Throttle Potentiometer(think that is spelt right) and now it looks like I have to replace a valve (again expensive). Believe me, I am not a happy bunny. If someone was to ask me if I thought they should buy one I would tell them to stear clear. This car is not worth the hassle. Saying that I wouldn't slag Vauxhall off. I have been pining for a Calibra ever since it came off the production line. Bye bye Astra, guess where i am going.

I must apologise for the severe slating I gave my Astra. it turns out I was sold a duff car. i have just had an AA tech look and it turns out the pistons had gone and a bodge job done to hide it

Sounds a bit like my car. If anythings going to go wrong on it, it's going to be the expensive bits!

Over more than 30 years of driving I have owned principally Vauxhalls. Three of my favourites were Astras. Whatever make of car you buy nowdays, if it has the problems you describe and won't go over 60 uphill it suggests only one thing. You have ben sold a pup. It must be so maddening for you.
