Advantages: Decent space, Nothing else
Disadvantages: EVERYTHING ELSE
I did some 150 miles in this car while taking my Pass Plus exam; and what a tedious, irritating car it is.
First off is the engine, which being a 3-cylinder motor makes a fruity noise, at least if you go above 3000rpm - below that it sounds extremely dull. It's very very gutless, with only around 50bhp and nearly a ton to haul, and the engine makes the clutch vibrate (obviously just a Vauxhall thing because an old 3-cyl Subaru Justy I tried didn't have the same problem).
The car itself gives you headaches and back pains, seriously... the engine makes your head sore and the hard unsupportive seats make your back ache.
The handling and general driving experience is as tedious as you'd expect, with no surprises, zero fun, and the steering lacks feel and is vague - but for most drivers I guess it'd be "adequate".
The interior seems decently put together but it lacks any innovation (as with every aspect of the car), and is made of poor-quality plastics which probably wouldn't stand a few years of punishment. The interior space is very good in the front with plenty of leg- and head-room.
The outside styling again is boring, but it isn't offensive and will age fairly well.
This is a car for people who really don't have a mind of their own, as with many Vauxhalls. They just choose their car as some kind of thoughtless default choice, which makes it a horrible car on its own, ignoring all its faults. But, if you want to be the same as a million other people, go right ahead and buy one of the worst cars in its class!

- 04/12/06 After reading your what you have just said. I own a vauxhall corsa 1 litre. its an o4 reg. This car has been all over france down to nice, travelled around scotland, wales around cornwall and backwards and forwards to cambridge and norfolk. Its been fully loaded with even a bike on da back. I have owned the car from new and have never had any problems. it is cheap to run which is the whole idea isnt it? cheap for parts and a full service at vauxhall costing £220. Cheap to insure. Its not a sports car i know its coming up to 44000 now and still going strong. i will never get rid of this car no mater what any 1 thinks!!!!!!!!!! |

- 28/10/04 Actually I have to admit that when downgrading to a smaller car (I am retired and have to think of cost) I chose a Ford this time rather than the Corsa you are not keen on. :-)
I enjoyed your heartfelt comments, just would have liked to have given you a higher rating for more consumer detail about the car. Val, Motors Guide.

- 28/10/04 I want it to talk back all the time! If you've chosen Vauxhalls all your life then that's fine, they're obviously suited to you - I was just getting at the people who make mindless decisions about their cars.
